Tesco GI Diet

Read my personal review of this dieting book which will really change your life.

I have lost weight with this great book Paul McKenna's book I can make you slim.
New revised edition!

I haven't been hungry since I started this diet and there is no weighing, measuring or special foods to eat.

Very easy to follow - you can eat ALL your favourite foods!

I personally recommend you buy this book.
It has changed the way I look at food and dieting! You will find it easier than ever before to diet - and it won't seem like dieting as you're allowed all the foods you like!

Fruit smoothies are another great way of getting loads of fruit down you without having to munch your way through.

So far I've had cherry and yoghurt snoothie:
recipe - stone sweet spanish cherries and add a quantity of plain yoghurt. Blitz with your blender pour into a glass and drink!

Most blenders need liquid to help them blend food. They can't do dry food very well. read your blender's instructions carefully and find out what yours needs. You don't need much liquid and once the fruit starts to blend you'll get lots of juice.

If you've got a juicer you can juice some fruit and use this as the starter liquid adding even more vitamins and essentials minerals and healthy stuff into your drink.

Some blenders will manage ice, those that don't will have to add ice after the drink has been blended.

Fruit smoothie hints

Wash the fruit
Destone the fruit
Add some liquid (water, spring water, juice etc)
Chill! (or chill the fruit prior to adding it)
read your blenders instructions
Wash the blender carefully
Check out the market stalls or supermarket for cheap fruit. Some sell cheap bags of fruit which you can chop and freeze or juice and freeze.

We'll be listing other fruit smoothie recipes as we try them!

We've got some melon, peaches, and we're planning to try bananas and strawberrys- we've had banana smoothies before but found that we'd added too much milk so had to add more bananas...

Summer is a good time to make smoothies as fruit is at its cheapest. In winter the cost of your smoothie will be higher and you might be more limited on the range of fruit. Don't out of season strawberrys taste - well not very strawberryish.
Frozen berrys are available all year and these should make excellent smoothies.

Frozen Berry Smoothie - I would have taken a picture but I've eaten it all! I took a handfull of frozen berrys (Think they were cherrys, blackberrys, blackcurrants etc) and added some yoghurt. Was v stiff to get going but blended in a minute or so. Was firmly frozen almost like icecream. Scrummy!

Strawberry smoothie - made with real English Strawberrys! - Wash and hull the berrys (that means take the green stalk out), add some yoghurt and blitz. I've had two of these and have eaten them with a spoon and its heaven! I could have made it more liquid and drank it - but it was much more desserty!

Peach Smoothie - wash peaches, chop and make sure you've got a bit of juice in the bottom. Blitz with blender, adding tiny drop of water if not enough juice. This was so completely lovely!

Banana & Yoghurt Smoothie - chop a peeled banana with some yoghurt and blend! Very nice.

Peach and Banana - complete creamy heaven!
3 peaches, washed and cut up, small amountof water because they weren't giving up their juice very easily, blended, add banana and blend again. Drink or eat with a spoon. Makes a huge amount for one person. Beautiful colour and smell to this one - I'll be having it again and I promise to take a photo.

Veggie Smoothies!

You can blend avocado!

I've just read this recipe: Carrot Smoothie!

1/2 cup soft silken tofu
1/2 cup carrot juice -- chilled
1/2 cup grated carrots
1 cup frozen yogurt, vanilla
2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon grated ginger root
1 pinch salt
3 tablespoons pumpkin seeds -- optional

Directions:

Combine the tofu, carrot juice and grated carrots in a blender. Add the frozen yogurt, orange juice concentrate, lemon juice, ginger and salt. Blend until smooth. Add the pumpkin seeds, if you like, and blend to the desired consistency.

If you have juiced the carrots then they're grated very finely - I suspect mixing the jucie and carrot pulp would work. Def sounds interesting! Although you get to wash up the juicer and blender too!
