Tesco GI Diet

Read my personal review of this dieting book which will really change your life.

I have lost weight with this great book Paul McKenna's book I can make you slim.
New revised edition!

I haven't been hungry since I started this diet and there is no weighing, measuring or special foods to eat.

Very easy to follow - you can eat ALL your favourite foods!

I personally recommend you buy this book.
It has changed the way I look at food and dieting! You will find it easier than ever before to diet - and it won't seem like dieting as you're allowed all the foods you like!

What is the strangest Diet you've heard of? Are they true or false? Should you follow strange diets you hear about?
Probably not! If you're in any doubt ask your GP for advice on whether a diet should be followed.

Remember if a diet makes crazy promises then they are probably false promises.

Any diet which wants you to restrict your food intake to one or two items is not healthy! A balanced diet is more likely to be something you'll enjoy and continue to eat.

Problems with these diets are

  • Repetitve
  • Restrictive
  • Enforce bad eating habits
  • Not a long term solution.

I don't believe you should do a short term diet which really restricts what you eat. If you want to detox then do that - there are some nice guidelines in books about these days, but they all recommend that you take time out of your normal routine to relax because you're not feeding your body the normal amount of calories it needs to use.

Strawberry Rush diet
Glass of hot water when you get up and then a cup of sliced strawberries every 3 hours for one day only.

Egg and grapefruit diet
We've heard of this but hope its just an evil rumour. It could be another name for the grapefruit diet one of the versions of whihc is basically eggs and grapefruit.

The raw meat diet

Yuck! Don't go there! We think this is a horrid idea!

Beetroot diet
I've heard references to this diet and although I love beetroot I don't think eating it in vast quantities would do you much good. Its bright red dye effects would have a very colouring effect on the body and perhaps cause concern!

Grapefruit Diet

We have to say this diet sounds quite bizzarre.

The Grapefruit Diet is rumoured to originate from the Hollywood Diet from the 1930s. It involves - as the name suggests, eating a lot of grapefruit.
There seem to be two versions. One is almost starvation levels of food and the other is quite strangely generous.

The calorie intake suggested by the mean version of this diet is less than half the recommended amount on which an adult female can lose weight.

Version 1 - the generous version

Breakfast
Half a grapefruit (or 8 ounces grapefruit juice)
2 eggs any style
2 slices of bacon

Lunch
Half a grapefruit (or 8 ounces grapefruit juice)
Salad with any dressing
Meat (any style in any amount)

Dinner
Half a grapefruit (or 8 ounces grapefruit juice)
Salad with dressing (or green vegetable cooked in butter)
Meat or fish (any style, cooked any way)
Black coffee or tea

Bedtime Snack
8 ounces of tomato juice (or 8 ounces of skim milk)

Version 2 - much more mean!

Breakfast
Half a grapefruit
Black coffee

Lunch
Half a grapefruit
1 Egg
Salad
1 slice of bread, toasted
Black coffee

Dinner
Half a grapefruit
2 Eggs
Half a head of lettuce
Tomato
1 slice of bread, toasted
Black tea or coffee

3. You must eat the minimum listed at each meal.

4. You cannot eliminate anything from the diet.

6. Cut down on coffee, it affects the insulin balance.

7. Don't eat between meals.

8.You can fry food in butter.

9.Do not eat desserts, breads, and white vegetables or sweet potatoes.

10.You may double or triple helpings of meat, salad or vegetables.
